Polychromatic

With each unit I complete I find that I am really learning how to stretch my supplies and find different ways of using them. Today I used Altenew’s Vintage Flowers stamp and die set but in a completely different way to when I used it last time, a faux watercolor technique.
I have lots of photos showing the process that I used to make my latest card and hope you will enjoy having a look.

For my Level 1 assignment I used this stamp set but not with watercolor paper. I loved the difference that it has made with this card.

I stamped the branch in Walnut Stain and then used water to put the shadows and give the branch more substance. At each tip I placed a single blossom in Picked Raspberry ink.

I then decided to do some generational stamping to create the appearance bunches of blossoms and flesh them out with water. Generational stamping is when you make repeated impressions without reinking your stamp. Tumbled Glass ink was then used to address the background.

On a scrap piece of watercolor paper I stamped another seven individual blossoms and then used my Aqua brush to disperse some of the color but still leave some white areas.

The individual blossoms were die cut and then the main image was die cut with the largest Nesting Labels die. To have a border to surround this I traced the outside edge of the largest nesting die on to the back of some silver cardstock and hand cut this out.

White ink was used on pink cardstock with the Dotted Diamonds background stamp. This idea is repeated with the white gems in the die cut blossoms. A simple sentiment has been white heat embossed on a black cardstock strip attached on a strip of fun foam for dimension.

Finally the blossoms were attached with fun foam for dimension. I really like how the generational stamping helps to give the illusion of depth and softness to the blossoms.
