It’s that time of year again where My Favorite Things are looking for card superstars. This is my entry into their Clean & Simple category.
I chose to highlight only one small stamp from the Birth-Yay stamp set.

While a Clean & Simple Card sounds easy to do there is a lot of thought that has to go into creating something special. I would have tried at least six times to actually get a card that I was happy to present, (even though there is only a tiny amount of actual colouring on it!)
My first hurdle was that the die I wanted to use needed to be placed differently to get the shape I wanted so needless to say I had a few alignment issues but it can be done.
Then I had to play around with placement of the cupcakes. Each one is individually stamped and rotated so that I could get a pleasing arrangement.
I ended up scrapping this one because the cupcake that I wanted to highlight was facing the wrong way for where I wanted the shadow. But eventually I got things sorted out and started putting the card together. My Favorite Things has lots of specialty papers and my favourite is the Black & White Stripes – it is so visually captivating and was going to work well with my black, white and red theme.

I coloured the cupcake using alcohol markers and a Polychromos pencil very simply.

To create shine I used a clear Glaze pen and red glitter cardstock.
